The U.S. Men’s National Team started the new year with a loss to Chile, and the latest episode of The SBI Show takes a look at the positives and negatives from the first USMNT match of 2015.

Episode 190 of The SBI Show takes a look back at the 3-2 loss to Chile, and Jurgen Klinsmann’s experiment with the 3-5-2 formation. Co-host Garrett Cleverly and I discuss the bright spots, and disappointing developments from the match.

We also look at the recent returns to MLS of Juan Agudelo and Sacha Kljestan, and catch up on the rash of injuries hitting Americans Abroad.

  1. It’s too easy to say that JK is bailing out on the 3-5-2 by switching to a 4-4-2 at the half. You’re giving him too much credit really. Wood, for example has signed with another BL2 club, which means nothing. Nguyen is definitely a step up from him and should start in his place wherever Dempsey happens to play. There seems to be a mismatch between JK and his expectations of these players. I hope he gets his act together for the Panama match before they show us what a good national team plays like.
