not sure of his impact there but it seems odd to send a player off that wasn’t a staple. for example, beckham leaving for MLS made sense to honor him or even Gerrard leaving the only club he ever played for, but was Sacha THAT much of an impact on their club. nonetheless, it’s nice the club did that.

He deserves it. He played a key role for a long time for a very good European team that won quite a bit of silverware and was regularly involved in European competitions (I believe Sacha is 2nd only to Beasley for most all time Champions League appearances by an American). Even after they went on a youth crusade last season and he lost his spot, he fought his way back into the picture this year. I have a feeling he’s going to have a really big impact on the Red Bulls this season.

He made almost a 150 appearances for the club… that is a lot of games over a 5+ year span… Real fans recognize those kinds of contributions…
