The Los Angeles Galaxy’s top 2015 draft pick is already making an impact.

Ignacio Maganto netted the winner in a 2-1 preseason victory against Seattle Sounders on Friday. Maganto was played through on goal by Alan Gordon for the easy finish less than 10 minutes after halftime.

The Galaxy took the lead in the 18th minute when Robbie Keane and Stefan Ishizaki combined before providing Baggio Husidic for the tap-in. Marco Pappa struck back a short time later with a curling effort past Brian Rowe in the LA goal.

Maganto’s winner is a nice way for the Galaxy to close out the first part of their preseason, as they will now take an 11-day tour of Europe that includes a Feb. 16 game against Hammarby in Sweden.

Here is how Friday’s other MLS preseason match went:

D.C. UNITED NARROWLY LOSES TO MALMO

A single-goal is all Swedish team Malmo needed to edge a win in D.C. United’s final preseason game in Florida.

Poor finishing was the only difference, as D.C. United had several chances inside the box but failed to deliver. Fabian Espindola, Davy Arnaud and Nick DeLeon all fell short with their finishing touch.

Malmo got its winner through Jo Inge Berget, who struck in the 44th minute.

The game was D.C.’s last at the IMG Academy during its preseason Florida trip. The club next heads to Texas for the ATX Pro Challenge, which starts with an 8 p.m. kickoff against Austin Aztex on Feb. 13.

  1. Galaxy will also take on the Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght Ireland,, Robbie Keane’s’ hometown just a few days later.

There are quite a few pundits that are saying that the Galaxy got one of the better players in the SuperDraft. With several years in La Liga’s Getafe FC Academy, Ignacio “Nacho” Maganto, had he not wanted to pursue a college degree in the US, would now be playing football in La Liga.
