Storied rivalries in Spain and England grab the spotlight in the best of the weekend’s soccer on TV.
A potential La Liga title-deciding clash rounds out the weekend action in Europe when Barcelona hosts Real Madrid on Sunday. The Catalan club can extend its lead at the top of the standings to four points with a win in El Clasico, but Los Blancos can take back first place with a victory of their own.
Earlier that day, the battle for UEFA Champions League places in England receives a twist when Liverpool and Manchester United meet at Anfield. The Red Devils currently sit in fourth place, just two points ahead of their Northwest rivals in the English Premier League.
In Italy, a sputtering AC Milan faces relegation-threatened Cagliari. Milan has one win from its last five games, but that run could improve against a Cagliari team that has failed to win since January.
Tijuana tries to extend its lead at the top of Liga MX and its streak of nine league games without a loss against Cruz Azul. After a flying start to the season, La Maquina has failed to win in the last four outings and slipped to sixth in the standings.
In MLS, the New York Red Bulls open their home slate of games against Eastern Conference rivals D.C. United. The Chicago Fire hope to grab a first win of the season with a trip out west to face San Jose Earthquakes, who will be officially opening their new Avaya Stadium.

OK Hold it. Did MLS really schedule one of their massive rivalry matches during El Clasico?
Scheduling 101 FAIL!!!
3:55 p.m. — beIN Sporst USA — Barcelona vs. Real Madrid
5 p.m. — ESPN2 — New York Red Bulls vs. D.C. United
It’s OK. No one has BeinSports anyway
Was just thinking that. Hopefully they’ll show the game at RBA before the RB game kicks off but since this is RBNY we’re talking about, that won’t happen.
FRIDAY
3:30 p.m. — GolTV USA — Hamburg vs. Hertha Berlin
Green vs. Brooks! The FOX takeover of Budesliga rights can’t come soon enough. Stupid Verizon doesn’t include GolTV with their Sports package, only with their Spanish Language package.
Looking forward to the Barcelona v Real Madrid derby and the Liverpool v Manchester United. Where will you be watching the game from?
Your Mom’s bedroom TV…
Boom.
BeIN “Sporst” USA barca v madrid derp
Where’s the big story of the day? Qatar 2022 World Cup moved to November/December.
Probably under “yesterday’s news”
