Houston Dynamo defender Jermaine Taylor had just made a goal-line clearance in the 77th minute, preserving his side’s then 3-2 lead over Sporting Kansas City. Then came the whistle.
Head official Kevin Stott blew the play dead, ruled a penalty in the favor of Sporting KC and issued a straight red card the Dynamo defender. The subsequent penalty was converted by Benny Feilhaber, and from there, the match went on to finish 4-4.
The call was apparently for Taylor’s use of his arm in denying the visiting team’s shot, but further inspection showed the ball appearing to bounce off of his chest and back into play. Wednesday, the Independent Review Panel agreed that no red card should have been issued, and they consequently rescinded the Jamaican international’s red card. The Dynamo’s appeal was unanimously upheld by the panel.
Now available for selection, Taylor and the Dynamo will host in-state rival FC Dallas May 1st.
What do you think of the panel’s decision to overturn the red card?

MLS as a league has come so far, but I feel like the refs are still at MLS 1.0.
I used to think Stott was one of the better refs in MLS (not saying much, obviously) but he’s been pretty horrific so far this year.
Sorry, our bad… ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I wish! It would have been 3-1 with only 10 minutes left. Alas, nothing will change as a result of this.
can we have our 2 points back too?
