After being defeated by the eventual champions in last season’s Western Conference finals, the Seattle Sounders have a chance to get some early-season revenge Sunday evening against the LA Galaxy.
The Galaxy have sputtered in recent weeks and have been held scoreless in back-to-back contests, while the Sounders recent woes were put in the past with a hard-fought victory over the Houston Dynamo last week.
Prior to Sunday’s night cap, a pair of contenders collide at Providence Park as the Portland Timbers take on Orlando City in Sunday’s opener.

I thought galaxy sounders game was on English tv and not spanish only. Pure garbage, what is up with darts on fox sports 1
Upon further review, I really like the new MLS logo.
I think Orlando City might play the best brand of soccer in MLS. Great interchanging, movement of the ball, and quick passing that makes them dangerous. Brek Shea looks like a different player, I think all he really needed was a coach who believed in his abilities, and consistent playing time.
Francois,….I think you are on to something.
Couple of notes on this match:
1. Portland are less Timbers and more like Balsa Wood.
2. Really enjoyed Orlando’s play,…but MLS must penalize that cheater who dove on the so-called PK. 10 games would do it.
3. This guy Character is a knucklehead.
I’m a neutral and I would say that it was a penalty. Goalkeeper was late off his line and went to ground. There may not have been a ton of contact but it was there none the less and he prevented Rivas from making a clean play on the ball. That being said I think that encroachment on penalties happens a lot but isn’t called much so I think that’s a little harsh. Besides, Chara should have gotten a straight red in the first half. It would have been harsh due to distance from goal but last man and bringing him down from behind. Textbook red.
Nick,…I don’t think the GK even touched him.
