With the score level and just moments remaining, Indy Eleven’s Sergio Pena collected the ball 45 yards out and hoped for the best.

The Honduran midfielder, who entered as a substitute in the 81st minute, earned his side all three points with his spectacular late volley on the way to being named SBI NASL Player of the Week.

As the ball bounced toward him in midfield, Pena chested it down before firing a volleyed effort toward the upper right post. That effort stayed true throughout the 45 yards, ducking in under the crossbar and over Jon Kempin to earn Indy Eleven all three points.

Leading his side to victory on the road against the reigning NASL champions was enough to earn Pena SBI NASL Player of the week, beating out the New York Cosmos’ Walter Restrepo and FC Edmonton’s Sainey Nyassi for this week’s honors.
