After a string of poor results, the Galaxy were in need of a spectacular performance, and that is exactly what they got from goalkeeper Jaime Penedo.
Penedo led the way for the reigning champions with 10 saves, earning his team a 1-0 home victory over the Seattle Sounders while also collecting honors as SBI MLS Player of the Week.
Facing wave after wave of Sounders attacks, Penedo’s hands prove to be an impenetrable last line of defense. Starting with back-to-back saves within the first 10 minutes, Penedo stepped up every time he was called upon to make saves both routine and spectacular time and time again.
Penedo’s play earned him recognition as SBI MLS Player of the Week, beating out Perry Kitchen, Dillon Powers and Ike Opara for this week’s honors.
