The second placed team in the Bundesliga, Wolfsburg, will attempt to add another Italian team to its list of victims in the march toward Europa League glory.

Wolfsburg hosts the first leg of its quarterfinal match-up with Napoli, after the German side disposed of Inter Milan 5-2 on aggregate in the previous round. Napoli enters the first leg in struggling form, having won just one of its last six games in all competitions.

In contrast, Wolfsburg is on an eight-match unbeaten run. Their biggest concern will be Sunday’s quick turnaround when they host fifth place Schalke in league play.

Europa League holders Sevilla face a familiar foe in their quarterfinal first leg when Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg comes to town. Back when Sevilla first won the competition in 2006, Zenit was one of the teams they knocked out en route to the trophy.

Zenit still has bad memories of that matchup, with some controversial decisions by the referee favoring the Spanish side. They may have bigger concerns for the first leg this time around, with leading scorer Hulk among a group of first-team regulars suspended for the first leg.

Elsewhere, Dynamo Kyiv will try to follow-up its overwhelming second-leg victory against Everton in the last round with a start at home against Fiorentina. The Viola will be eager to get back to winning ways after Juventus knocked them out of the Coppa Italia and Napoli handed them a 3-0 defeat over the weekend.

Finally, Club Brugge has to bounce back from its first loss in nine games to gain advantage against Ukrainian side Dnipro. Brugge had won eight straight before a loss on Saturday. Dnipro is in the quarterfinal round after surprisingly advancing past Ajax thanks to a single away goal.

Who will have the best time during Thursday’s first leg quarterfinal matches? Can either Club Brugge or Dnipro go on to pull off a shock in the competition?
