In the midst of a four-game losing streak heading into Sunday’s contest, Toronto FC was in need of a victory.

TFC got exactly that Sunday with a commanding performance in a visit to Orlando City, earning a 2-0 victory to claim SBI MLS Team of the Week.

Facing plenty of pressure from an Orlando City side that dominated possession through the opening half, TFC remained rigid and tough, features that had been lacking in recent weeks. When given the chance, Jozy Altidore proved clinical by scoring both TFC goals, leading the way in a dominant second half that saw TFC do well in holding on to snag a well-earned three points.

The performance was enough to earn TFC honors as SBI MLS Team of the Week, beating out the Columbus Crew and New England Revolution for this week’s honors.

What did you think of TFC’s performance? Which team stood out to you this past weekend?

  1. You missed on this one, NE was far better, dominating the game from start to finish, completely routing a team that was undefeated two weeks ago, and coming just a great-goalkeeping-performance away from bagging 7 or 8. Best I’ve seen any team play this year, much less this week.

    • +1 I agree…TFC should have been performing like this all along considering the players they have, but instead under performed in all games except for the 1st game, and last night, Orlando can’t score for their life. Their so called DP’s missed opportunities that a mid level MLS striker would have bagged…ridiculous. With that being said, I am happy for Jozy, he needed that confidence booster, especially with the busy USMNT schedule this summer coming up.

…I just wish Bradley and Jozy would have ended up with different teams (like the Revs, NY red bulls or LA that would have been sick)…they are the only reason I watch TFC games

      • Agree on the Revs. Not really a close call. They looked very good.

Disagree on Bradley and Altidore. If they want to be great, they will have to lead Toronto to a championship. It is going to be very difficult because MLS is VERY competitive. But adding them to the best team, like New England, would not develop them into the leaders and soccer players that we need on the Nat team.

If they want to play on the best team, then they can get their team there.

  2. This was not a great game and I wouldn’t consider TFC performance to be stellar. Jozy s 2nd goal was a little lucky, but his 1st touch on that long ball was superb. They really should beat Philadelphia this week and be above the red line.

    • Their DP’s are carrying them. TFC has GOT to get something – ANYTHING – out of the other 21 players on the roster. Altidore, Bradley, and Giovinco are all they’ve got, right now. As unbalanced a team as I’ve seen.

With the talent they have at the top of their roster, this team should be close to unbeaten.
