USA Vs Mexico Logos

By IVES GALARCEP

The U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team takes on Mexico tonight in a friendly that could offer a peak into a matchup we might see when the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament takes place in October.

U.S. Under-23 coach Andreas Herzog will look to help his team record the second U.S. win against Mexico in a week after the senior team defeated ‘El Tri’ last week in San Antonio.

SBI will be providing live commentary on tonight’s match so feel free to follow the action here. As always, you are welcome to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

Enjoy the action (Tonight’s commentary is after the jump):

  1. Morris is definitely raw. If he had had better first touches he might have scored two or three. Still, you feel like he is dangerous whenever he gets the ball and starts running at the defense. I want to add an unrelated issue. Ives, your website drives me crazy. This is the only place I have this problem, so I know it’s not my p.c. So many times my computer will freeze, or it will take a minute from the time I type something until it shows up on the screen. I have had to keep closing the internet and coming back to see if that would help (sometimes it does) and it often takes forever to read a story and to make a comment. I know that sometimes it’s the plug-ins that are the problem and sometimes I wonder if you need a bigger and faster server. If your coverage wasn’t so good, I’d stop coming here. Please fix this.

    • The problem’s the aggressive jacking going on from his advertisers. It isn’t just Ives, it’s gotten to be on a bunch of sites on the Internet.

What you need to do is go to the “Tools” section in your browser, find “Add-Ons” and then “Plug-Ins”. Go your Flash player and turn its settings from “auto-play” to “manual”. Which stops these scripting jackers in their tracks.

You’ll be amazed how much faster and less annoying your surfing experience gets. I was about to give up on SBI and several other sites until I figured that out.

Oh, and stop using Internet Explorer unless you just plain like getting malware. Use Firefox or Google Chrome, your computer will thank you.

  2. Well, so much for the notion that America has no idea how to develop its young players. That was a one-sided pasting the second half.

By now I think it’s safe to assume that the Mexicans, anyhow, know who Jordan Morris is. Kid’s still raw but Oh My does he have some jets and a nose for goal. Hopefully he can keep building on this week.

Could be a fascinating summer for US Soccer. Love to see a nice long Olympic run and a Gold Cup…and then we’d have both a Copa America AND a Confeds Cup to look forward to. Would be a very different narrative going on, I suspect, after all that….

  3. Panizo talks about the US’s fouls without including the sloppy slide tackles the Mexicans are making including the one that lead to the first yellow. But sure the US is the one being physical.
