Bright Dike wasted litle time in making an impression on the San Antonio Scorpions.

Just under two weeks after joining on loan, Dike provided his new side with a late game-winning goal to earn the Scorpions’ first win of the season with a 1-0 defeat of the Carolina RailHawks.

The Scorpions’ finish came as a result of the play of two substitutes, as Dike and Billy Forbes combined to snatch the Scorpions victory. Dike, who joined the Scorpions on April 27 on loan from Toronto FC, saw himself on the receiving end of an assist from Forbes just four minutes after being introduced to the game for Omar Cummings.

Most of the heavy lifting was done by Forbes, who entered the game for an injured Marvin Chavez in the 43rd minute. Beating a RailHawks offside trap, Forbed centered a pass for Dike to provide the forward with an easy tap-in to snag the victory.

While the RailHawks played without leading scorer Nacho Novo, the Scorpions saw the return of captain Adrian Cann, who started and went 90 minutes at the centerback position.

The RailHawks are now winless in the team’s last five games following the result, while the Scorpions picked up their fourth point from five games with the victory.

Following the win, the Scorpions look to move out of the league’s basement on May 17 at FC Edmonton while the RailHawks host the New York Cosmos the day prior.

  1. Ryan, go back through and proof read one more time. Couple of misspellings. “Little” & Forbes.

What’s crazy is this team is top to bottom player by player better than last year’s championship team. However, many of the players were brought in so late – right before the season started and right after the season started – they didn’t have time to gel.
