Sevilla and Real Madrid face a crucial clash against one another, with both teams attempting to chase down what’s ahead of them in the Primera Division.

For the hosting Rojiblancos — whose only recent luck against Real has come in front of home fans — a win is paramount to keep up in the race with Valencia for the final UEFA Champions League spot. Visiting Real must take a win back home in order to maintain pressure on first-place Barcelona, who plays relegation-threatened Cordoba earlier in the day.

Less is on the line in Bayer Leverkusen’s encounter with Bayern Munich, who were assured the Bundesliga title last weekend. Still, fourth-place Leverkusen could use a famous victory to improve its own campaign for Champions League soccer next season.

The Europa League looks likely for Liverpool, though there’s still work for the Reds to do up against a QPR side facing relegation.

Later in the day, eighth place Club America plays sixth place Toluca as both teams attempt to jump in the mix at the top of Liga MX.

  1. Two big penalty kick misses/saves today. LFC finds a winner, while Man Poo does not get the equalizer thanks to strong goal-keeping by Myhill. 4 points separate the 2 squads for Champs league spot, though don’t see Liverpool beating Chelsea and think CP will be a tough match.

  2. I know it’s RVP, but not sure why you have a guy who hasn’t really played in 2 months take the PK over Rooney..

    • Didn’t see their last one – was he at fault? Usually one band game doesn’t end in benching, but maybe he’s had a string of them? I really haven’t seen them much this season.

      • Yeah, it was an absolute howler. That being said, it was only one goal. Normally that’s not enough to get benched.

Sadly, the talk from a lot of Villa supporters online is that Guzan’s been in poor form recently. They aren’t particularly bothered by Given getting the start.
