While Sevilla looks to seal a chance to defend its title, Ukrainian side Dnipro seeks to make history in Thursday’s Europa League semifinal action.

The Ukrainian league runner-up is tied, 1-1, with Napoli following the first leg in Italy. Dnipro will learn just how valuable that away goal was against a Napoli side that is fighting for a place in next season’s Champions League in both Europa League and domestic fronts.

Sevilla’s place in the final looks assured after a 3-0 win at home in the first leg against Fiorentina. The Rojiblancos will have to take care on the road against the Viola, who reached this stage by already beating Roma, 3-0, back in the Round of 16.

Action shifts from one continental competition to another later in the day with Round of 16 second legs in the Copa Libertadores. River Plate takes a 1-0 advantage into La Bombanera against archrivals Boca Juniors. Another Argentine team, Racing Club, hosts Montevideo Wanderers after a 1-1 result in the first leg. Later, Colombian side Atletico Nacional must overturn a 2-0 deficit at home against Emelec from Ecuador.

There’s also a pair of Liga MX Clausura playoffs this evening. Queretaro faces Veracruz while CD Guadalajara and Atlas square off in a pair of quarterfinal first legs.

    • Nope. It tottally didn’t. All the work of bearing Wolfsburg. They must have come unprepared for the effort they would need here. Otherwise…. how did they lose.
