Arsenal’s chance to secure automatic qualification to the UEFA Champions League can be clinched today with a win against Sunderland.

The Black Cats visit Alexis Sanchez and Arsenal on Wednesday (NBC Sports Network, 2:45 pm) for a make-up game that could determine not only Arsenal’s Champions League status but Sunderland’s English Premier League status. Arsenal currently has 71 points, and a win, and even probably a draw, will ensure the Gunners of third place and an automatic Champions League spot.

Sunderland meanwhile are only three points above Hull City for the last relegation place, and Jermain Defoe and Co. will need to pick up at least a point to ensure survival.

In Italy, champions Juventus look to win their second title of the season when they take on Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in Roma in the Coppa Italia final (beIN Sports USA, 2:45 p.m.). Carlos Tevez, Paul Pogba, and Andrea Pirlo all start for Juventus while Lazio counter with Miroslav Klose, Felipe Anderson, and Marco Parolo in the all-important match.

  1. fun first half of SKC v NE, SKC down 1-0 then scores 3 in 10 minutes. Dwyer is regaining his 2014 form (and currently owning JJ at CB). Can’t wait for 2017 when Dwyer will hopefully be playing for the USMNT (there’s your answer to who’s the best strike partner for Jozy– a 24yo and 25yo)
