The South American connection was in full swing in Texas on Friday night, as FC Dallas beat the Houston Dynamo, 2-0, at Toyota Stadium.

FC Dallas snapped a five-match winless streak after securing only two points on the road since May 15.

Dallas dominated the play on the night, with Mauro Diaz and Fabian Castillo proving too much for Owen Coyle’s men to handle.

The first goal came for the Dynamo in the 33rd minute of play. Fabian Castillo showed some skill with fancy footwork to make it into the box, but the ball was deflected past Tyler Deric after contact with Jermaine Taylor.

FC Dallas has now won both meetings between the teams this season, with the first coming on May 1 in a 4-1 victory for Oscar Pareja’s side.

FC Dallas found its second goal on the night three minutes before halftime. Diaz and Castillo combined, with the former feeding a cheeky ground ball through two defenders to Castillo at the top of the box to finish for the 2-0 lead.

Dan Kennedy came up big just minutes later, as DaMarcus Beasley rocketed a shot to the upper left-hand corner of the goal. Luckily, the former Chivas USA all-star was there to keep the Dynamo off the board.

Tyler Deric came up big for the Dynamo in the 50th minute, coming off his line to deny Castillo from firing home yet another Diaz cross.

The Dynamo will next host the Colorado Rapids in the U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday, while FC Dallas will travel to Sporting Park to face off against Sporting Kansas City in the tournament on Wednesday.

  1. I think last game sarkodie got torched by Castillo. Also, I think davis is there for practice purposes as well. It seems he’s a leader and hard worker.

  2. Diaz and Castillo torched the dynamo the first time around. The adjustment made was having Raul man up with Castillo which didn’t work. I hate Dallas, but right now they are the better team (not even in their best form). It’s tough watching the dynamo’s sporadic play.
I’m curious about Davis’s usmnt selection. He’s been terrible, even on his set pieces.

    • FINALLY….a Houston fan that can acknowledge that Brad Davis being on the National Team is laughable… it saddens me to hear that even his set pieces have been bad because I have this theory that Davis is there for practice purposes…having him take the corners and free kicks in drills to get the attacking set up in the box enough practice

Hey what happened to Koffi Sarkodie? Why not start him vs a guy like Castillo?
