Despite all of the rumors linking him to a move abroad, David De Gea is planning on returning to his current club, at least for the time being.

De Gea says that he will begin preseason training with Manchester United on Monday, despite reports linking the goalkeeper with a move to Real Madrid. In addition, De Gea said that he is “calm” over a potential transfer to the Spanish giant.

“Real Madrid? I have to train over there (Mancheste),” De Gea said.”I’m heading back to Manchester to begin preseason training.”

Manchester United are reportedly looking for a record-breaking transfer fee if the club is to depart with the Spanish goalkeeper.

Here are some more news and notes to kick off your Monday morning:

JIMENEZ LOOKING TO STAY AT ATLETICO

Despite interest from abroad, Raul Jimenez is happy to remain at Atletico Madrid.

The Mexican forward has been linked with moves to Porto, Benfica and Granada despite spending just one season in Madrid. On vacation after participating in the Copa America, Jimenez says that he is not looking to make a move anytime soon.

“I’m really happy where I am, and eager to start getting more minutes playing time,” Jimenez said. “But I’m sure that will come gradually and I can win a permanent place.”

“As it stands, I am an Atletico Madrid player. I’m on holiday and when I get back to Madrid I’m sure I’ll find out a little more about my future.”

Jimenez scored one goal in 21 appearances for Atleti last season.

LIVERPOOL EXPECT IMPROVED STERLING BID FOR MANCHESTER CITY

With one eye fixed on its preseason tour, Liverpool is hoping to reach a resolution for Raheem Sterling in the near future.

Liverpool is reportedly expecting Manchester City to come in with an improved bid that is more likely to reach the Reds’ value of the young winger. Man City is reportedly nearing a bid reaching the region of $77 million.

The 20-year-old star, whose contract issues have been ongoing since February, is reportedly expected to be in attendance for the start of preseason this week. However, Liverpool is hoping to determine Sterling’s future before the club departs for Asia on Sunday.
