It did not take Tim Ream very long to make his Fulham debut. It also did not take him long to impress.
Just days after transferring over from Bolton Wanders, Ream earned his first start for Fulham on Tuesday in Capital One Cup action. He lasted until the 80th minute in his more natural position of centerback, and was fairly solid in helping the Cottagers post a shutout in a 3-0 victory over Sheffield United. Ream and Fulham’s opponent in the next round of the tournament will be Stoke City, which advanced past Luton Town on Tuesday thanks to a game-winning penalty from Geoff Cameron.
Lynden Gooch also made his club debut, and his professional first-team debut as well. The 19-year-old midfielder – who missed out on making the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team’s World Cup squad this summer – made his Sunderland debut by coming off the bench in the second half of a 6-3 triumph over Exeter City. Gooch entered the Capital One Cup match in the 58th minute when it was still deadlocked at 3-3, and helped the Black Cats keep the visitors off the board while scoring three of their own to end the game in lopsided fashion.
Cody Cropper also saw time in his club’s Capital One Cup affair, playing all 120 minutes to help MK Dons post a 2-1 extra-time victory against Cardiff City. The 22-year-old goalkeeper earned a late yellow card in the match, but did enough in his second tournament start to ensure that MK Dons advanced to the next round.

What do you think of these performances? Expecting Ream to stick at centerback all season long at Fulham? Do you see Gooch consistently breaking into Sunderland’s game-day rosters in league play at some point this season?

I think Khan is using Fulham as an American trojan horse. More Americans in BPL!!
