After 16 years, Sepp Blatter is set to depart the International Olympic Committee.
Up for reelection, Blatter informed IOC president Thomas Bach that he will not pursue another term with the organization.Due to age constrictions, Blatter, who has been a part of the organization since 1999, would have had to step down next year regardless.
“He does not deem it to be appropriate to stand for re-election for eight years knowing that after seven months his term would come to an end,” Bach said.
Blatter, who will see his presidency with FIFA come to an end with a February election, was not in attendance for the IOC’s general assembly in Kuala Lumpur.
Here are some more news and notes to kick off your Monday morning:
DI MARIA SET FOR PSG MEDICAL
Angel Di Maria looks all set to join Paris Saint-Germain.
The Argentinian midfielder is reportedly bound for the French club for a reported £44.3 million ($69 million) transfer fee. Di Maria reportedly arrived in Doha on Sunday for talks with PSG officials before undergoing a medical in Qatar, where the team’s ownership is based.
The move comes just one year after Di Maria joined Manchester United for a £59.7 million ($93 million) fee, yet the club is set to cut their losses with the PSG sale. The move to the French club could reportedly be finalized as soon as Monday night.
Di Maria made 32 total appearances for the Premier League club, scoring four goals across all competitions.
WENGER DENIES ARSENAL LINK TO BENZEMA
Striker Karim Benzema has long been linked with a move to Arsenal, but manager Arsene Wengers insists that the club is not lining up any sort of move for the French star.
Benzema has been linked with a €65 million ($71 million) deal to sign the French international, who is under contract with Real Madrid for four more seasons. Wenger insists that no deal is coming, though, while questioning where the rumors even came from.
“No, nothing is happening,” Wenger said after Sunday’s Community Shield victory. “Honestly, no. I don’t know who brings that up. Is it Spanish media or English media? I don’t know.”
Wenger went on to state his belief in his current striker pool, which features Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Danny Welback and, if needed, Alexis Sanchez. Wenger says that he will rotate the group in and out as he sees fit, as the team looks to experiment with different looks throughout the season.
“It depends on the games,” Wenger said. “I tried to see the options I have through the season. I felt today that I wanted to use Theo’s pace to go in behind. In the first half he worked very hard, didn’t get too much service, but he worked very hard.
“In the second half, when Giroud came on, I think he gave us a physical presence that was needed at that time as well.”

Didn’t realize that Sepp was in the IOC as well, but I guess it shouldn’t have come as too much of a surprise. The 2 most corrupted administrations in the history of sport (IOC & FIFA) AND Sepp has had his hands in both.
