Lauded as one of the biggest signings in league history, Sebastian Giovinco lived up to his reputation with the performance he put forth in the month of July.

The Toronto FC forward provided five goals and three assists in four July games, earning the Italian recognition as SBI’s MLS Player of the Month.

Giovinco’s magnum opus came in the team’s July 12 thriller against New York City FC, as the forward single-handedly lifted TFC to a thrilling draw. Providing three goals in nine minutes to go with a late-game assist, Giovinco put on one of the best performances in recent memory before adding a pair of one-goal, one-assist performances in the ensuing weeks against the Philadelphia Union and Columbus Crew.

In the absence of Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley, Giovinco stepped up and provided performances that were tops in the league, beating out fellow Designated Players Robbie Keane and David Villa for July’s Player of the Month honors.

What did you think of Giovinco’s performances this past month? Which was your favorite? What other players stood out to you in July?
