After winning the its first two games, Liverpool faces a true test in taking on a fellow English Premier League title contender in Arsenal.

Liverpool is set to travel to the Emirates Stadium having topped both Stoke City and Bournemouth by identical 1-0 scorelines. Arsenal, meanwhile, is fresh off a win over Crystal Palace after dropping their season opener to West Ham.

The Reds will be forced into making some major lineup changes on Monday, as captain Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana are both set to miss out due to injury. Lallana’s absence in particular could open the door for summer signing, forward Roberto Firmino, and the Brazilian international could be in line to make his first start for the club.

Outside of England, La Liga continues the league’s opening weekend with a matchup pitting Granada against Eibar.

  1. “For the U.S., football, soccer, does not have the same weight as baseball, basketball and American football,” Carrard said, via Eurosport. “There, it’s just an ethnic sport for girls in schools. In addition, the case involves only a few “rogues”, including at the FIFA executive committee, who have filled their pockets from continental competitions.”

  2. Tons of times the keepers are going out of the box when punting. Not called and I don’t want it to be called, but man did the US and Guzan get screwed in the Jamaica game.

  3. Does NBC sports not work for anyone else? No games are showing up on Apple TV, NBC sports live extra just keeps loading, and Xfinity live straming of NBC sports does the same.

    • Wondo didn’t really start scoring consistently in MLS until he was 27. There were a few transfer rumors but then San Jose made him a DP. Really pricing him out of any kind of move.

Twellman had an offer in the Championship but the bid was rejected at the time.

I just think once you’re an established MLS starter your value is probably more here then anywhere else right now. Unless you are under 24 and a club thinks they can further your progress and sell you on in a few years.

      • Ummm… Taylor Twellman was with 1860 Munich for 3 years of his life… he never cracked the first team and played for the 2nd team… He also had a move to England thwarted by MLS

    • xam,

Taylor was at 1860 Munich from 99-2002.

Later in his career Preston North End came for him but MLS made it really hard on him and I got the impression there was a lot of hard feelings from Taylor over how MLS prevented him from leaving and making a lot more money in England. Then shortly after that his career ended over the concussion issues.

I think people forget how good Twellman was. If nor for the concussions it is fascinating to think what the USMNT would have looked like at the 2010 World Cup when Twellman might have been in his prime..

I don’t think Wondo made his mark until he was older and I really don’t think most Euro scouts really knew about him.

  4. Why is IceMan playing for Werder Bremen while Jozy plays for Toronto? JOZY chose money over reinstating his credibility to be our number 1 striker for the NT.
