Toronto FC was quick to dismiss reports linking the club to a new manager.
Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was rumored to be in negotiations to possibly take over at Toronto FC. The news came as a result of Solskjaer’s agent telling a Norwegian newspaper that he was in touch with the MLS side about the coaching position.
However, a source from TFC has responded, telling MLSSoccer.com that the rumor is “100 percent not true.”
The Man United legend spent time in charge of Cardiff City in the 2013-204 season, but the side was relegated and Solskjaer was let go near the beginning of last season.
Greg Vanney, TFC’s current coach, has been in charge since last August and currently has TFC in position to make the postseason for the first time in club history.
Here are some more news and notes from around MLS:
PATERSON LEAVES ORLANDO
After a rather unsuccessful spell at Orlando City was plagued by injuries for Martin Paterson, the Northern Irish striker has left the club for personal reasons, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Paterson joined Orlando on loan from Huddersfield Town at the end of January, but a torn hamstring and a torn MCL kept him out of the team for the majority of his time in MLS. The striker only managed 53 minutes on the field with Orlando.
The termination of Paterson’s contract opens up $150,000 in Orlando City’s salary cap and gives the team back an international roster spot.
This move comes just days after the team waived Irish defender Sean St. Ledger, who was let go due to a breach of club policy.
FIRE PART WAYS WITH DO PRADO
After less than eight months, Guly do Prado’s time with the Chicago Fire has come to a close.
The Fire and the defender have mutually agreed to part ways, the club announced Tuesday night. The Brazilian made 15 MLS appearances for Chicago this season, as well as one substitute appearance in the U.S. Open Cup. Do Prado last started in the Fire’s July 3 match in Houston.
Prior to joining the Fire, do Prado featured for nine different clubs, including Southampton, Cesena and Fiorentina.
DIKE LEAVES TFC
After an unsuccessful run plagued by injuries, it has been confirmed that Bright Dike has left Toronto FC.
The Nigerian striker featured in just 11 MLS matches for the Canadian side in three seasons at the club. Injuries have plagued the 29-year-old’s time in Toronto, squashing Dike’s chance to be a part of Nigeria’s World Cup 2014 squad.
The player was loaned to the San Antonio Scorpions this season, but only featured five times for the NASL side.
EARTHQUAKES LOAN KHARI STEPHENSON TO SCORPIONS
If the San Antonio Scorpions want to make the NASL playoffs, they need to start a surging run in the Fall Season, and they added a veteran to help make that push Wednesday.
The San Jose Earthquakes announced that they had loaned Stephenson to the NASL side for the remainder of the 2015 NASL season. And while Stephenson, 34 years old, has appeared in four games for the Earthquakes in their 2015 campaign, his playing time has reduced in recent years.

Do you think Solskjaer would be a success with Toronto? Are you surprised to see any of these of these players leave their MLS teams?

Isn’t this how things started with Defoe leaving TFC? These rumors sometimes come to fruition……
Do Prado is a striker, not a defender. Important because to the best of my knowledge, he scored zero goals for the Fire while he wandered all over the field.
Making room for Chicharito
Unless the back the money truck up, nothing will happen. He has good options in EPL and Spain.
Aaron got the #9 Shirt at Werder Bremen.
Bodes well…..
