Both Roger Espinoza and Matt Watson are set for a spell on the sidelines after feeling the wrath of the MLS Disciplinary Committee.

MLS announced Wednesday that the Sporting Kansas City midfielder and Chicago Fire midfielder have earned suspensions and fines for incidents this past weekend.

Watson will see an additional game tacked on to mandatory one-game ban for his red card earned in Sunday’s win over FC Dallas. The midfielder was sent off in the 79th minute for a rough tackle in the midfield that was deemed to endanger the safety of an opponent.

Espinoza, meanwhile, earned a one-game ban for endangering Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric with a studs-up challenge.

The Fire midfielder will miss games against the Portland Timbers and Philadelphia Union, while Espinoza will be absent for Sporting KC’s visit to Toronto FC on Saturday.

In addition, Dom Dwyer and Kei Kamara were levied undisclosed fines for their actions this past weekend. Dwyer’s charge comes as the result of embellishment, while Kamara is disciplined for putting his hands to the face of Orlando City defender Corey Ashe.

Finally, both Sporting KC and the Dynamo were fined for a violation of the league’s Mass Confrontation Policy.

What do you think of the decisions? Were the punishments fair?
