The main course is not here yet, but EA Sports has provided a tasty appetizer for those anxiously awaiting FIFA 16.

EA Sports released the much-anticipated demo for the latest version of its hit soccer video game on Tuesday, dropping it on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 consoles. The demo, which has to be downloaded, comes per the usual two weeks prior to the release of FIFA 16.

Games in the demo are played at the speed of four-minute halves. There are 12 teams that are available for selection in it, including the U.S. Women’s National Team, Seattle Sounders, Barcelona and Real Madrid. The Sounders’ CenturyLink Field is one of the three playable stadiums in the FIFA 16 demo.

While gamers can take on the computer or play against friends in a friendly via the Kick-Off mode, they can also try out some of the new game modes. Among the ones available are FIFA Ultimate Team Draft and FIFA Trainer.

FIFA 16 hits stores in North America on Sept. 22.

What do you think of the FIFA 16 demo? Like it? Hate it? Which aspects of the game are better? Plan on buying FIFA this year or going with Pro Evolution Soccer?

  1. so played it a little and here’s a few early impressions:
plays almost identical to last years version. nothing really stands out as immediately improved…
the new body feints are a welcome addition but a little hard to use at first.
very little presentation improvements is disappointing.
the beginners mode is pretty cool. I wish I had that when I first started playing FIFA as there’s so many things to remember at first.
FUT Draft looks fantastic and it is fun opening packs and getting the option to pick your player (either star player or a chemistry player)
Finally, I played one women’s match and will say it actually plays pretty authentic: not as fast paced, can’t cross very far, finishing is tougher, long shots will be very hard to make, player models and animations look very authentic, and you can even hear the women yelling orders to each other which is hilarious but true to real life.
anyways that’s what I found so far

  2. as long as they fix the broken keepers and nerf through balls I’ll be happy. I mean there are a handful of things they need to fix, but they need to start there.

  3. If you don’t have the next gen consoles then just play Fifa 15, there was only very minor changes for them. All the effort went into the next gen.
