Creighton is currently on fire, and the whole team is pitching in to help make the Bluejays one of college soccer’s top teams.
The SBI No. 3 Bluejays scored six goals over the weekend, including four against No. 16 UC Irvine en route to another two wins this season.
Despite a slight weather delay Sunday, Creighton hammered the Anteaters, 4-0, and while Fabian Herbes scored a brace at Morrison Stadium, Myles Englis and Timo Pitter also found the back of the net.
“It is key that our opponents cannot hone in on just one player,” Bluejays head coach Elmar Bolowich said after Sunday’s key win at home. “If you hone in on (Herbers), you get stung by (Pitter, and Ricky Lopez-Espin or Englis, who both scored in Friday’s 2-1 win).
No. 4 Notre Dame also continued its impressive start to the season Sunday, dominating Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) by a scoreline of 4-0.
Sophomore forward Jon Gallagher led the Fighting Irish with two goals, Connor Klekota added another and senior Michael Shipp — younger brother of Chicago Fire midfielder Harrison Shipp — tallied his first-ever goal for Notre Dame.
Meanwhile, No. 15 Indiana cruised to a 2-0 win against No. 17 South Florida, with senior Femi Hollinger-Janzen and sophomore Grant Lillard finishing for the Hoosiers.
