The new soccer video-gaming season has kicked off, and it is Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) that has gotten the ball rolling.

PES 2016 hit shelves in stores nationwide on Tuesday, giving anxious gamers something new to chew on. The latest edition in Konami’s series boasts a number of new and updated features, including a Dynamic Weather option that allows conditions to change over the course of the games, Celebration Control for choosing how to relish goals, and a severe overhaul of the popular Master League mode.

Image Importing also returns to the Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 consoles, which allows gamers to create and replicate jerseys and crests for teams that are unlicensed.

In addition, PES is bringing back the official licensing for the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and Super Cup. It has also improved the MyClub mode based off of fan feedback.

PES 2016 marks the series’ 20th anniversary in making soccer video games and has released a week before its competitor, EA Sports’ FIFA 16.

PES 2016 is available for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows.  It comes out in Europe later this week, and in Japan on Oct. 1.

If you have not seen it yet or want to view it again, here is the trailer for PES 2016:

    • Why would they not have MLS?
Are they thinking it will just fade away?

That can’t be it. I saw Orlando has better attendance than the Sounder’s first season. NYCFC has to be up there too. Montreal can sell out real stadiums.

So are they just the video game equivalent of the Euro-troll?

      • I think PES is just really cheap with paying for licensing. So they don’t have all of the real players in the game. That’s why I have never thought about buying it. I want to have the real rosters and league set ups, not some pseudo-bs.

      • They don’t even get the rights to all teams in the bigger leagues of the world, it’s more that they’ve always been cheap as a far as licenses go. Just wait a month or two and someone will create a good MLS option file.

      • It’s not that Konami’s cheap. They can’t afford to compete with EA and how they have the exclusive licenses. Surprised they have the Champions League license. EA is the largest gaming company in the world, look what they did with the Madden franchise that I’m sure they’d love to do with the Soccer games. Luckily PES still gives us an alternative to EA’s FIFA… Madden we’re stuck with the same game since 2005 when NFL 2k went away.

    • Totally disagree. PES was a complete disappointment . It is terrible on the Wii platform. It plays nothing like actual soccer. It is as bad as the original FIFA game back in 1994 that allowed you to score by blocking the goalie punt.

      • Wow that screenshot is horrible. That looks nothing like Neymar. Is it supposed to look so random for legal reasons? like image rights issues?
