Facing a must-win contest without the presence of Kaka, Orlando City found their hero in Adrian Winter.

The midfielder, who signed with Orlando City in late July, scored his first two MLS goals on Sunday, leading Orlando City to a crucial 3-1 victory over Sporting KC to earn SBI MLS Player of the Week honors.

Taking on a contender in Sporting KC, Winter got the Lions off the mark early, heading home from the back post after earning his team a dangerous free kick. Then, with his side up 2-1, Winter sealed the victory, working a perfect one-two with Lewis Neal before firing past Jon Kempin to put an exclamation point on an Orlando City victory that could go a long way towards a potential run to playoff positioning.

With his pair of goals, Winter kept Orlando City’s season alive, helping the midfielder beat out the Columbus Crew’s Kei Kamara, Real Salt Lake midfielder Javier Morales and New England Revolution playmaker Lee Nguyen.
