In the aftermath of Thursday’s most recent allegations of corruption, FIFA has taken action.
FIFA announced Thursday afternoon that secretary general Jerome Valcke has been removed from his position until further notice. The organization’s decision comes in the wake of accusations that Valcke schemed to sell World Cup tickets for above face value at last summer’s tournament.
Valcke, who has been FIFA’s secretary general since 2007, has reportedly denied the allegations.
“FIFA today announced that its secretary general, Jerome Valcke, has been put on leave and released from his duties effective immediately until further notice,” the organization said in a statement. “Further, FIFA has been made aware of a series of allegations involving the secretary general and has requested a formal investigation by the FIFA Ethics Committee.”
The news regarding Valcke is far from the only recent news regarding the FIFA corruption scandal. Eugenio Figueredo, the former vice president of FIFA and CONMEBOL, was approved for extradition to the U.S on bribery charges earlier this week.
What do you make of this development? Do you see Valcke ever returning to his position? Expecting more change to come to FIFA in the next few days?

Valcke has been at the heart of almost every corruption-like issue in FIFA. FIFA was sued many years ago when it changed its sponsoring agency between MasterCard and VISA. The federal court judge hearing the case basically said that Valcke had no credibility whatsoever.
Every ticket scam, television rights fiasco (Warner getting Caribbean rights for $1.00), host payoff has gone through or was touched by Valcke. And Blatter knew. Valcke is his fall guy.
I wonder if this is “paid leave”
I hope they have something more substantial that scalping tickets. This is pretty pathetic.
I imagine he was bribed with a lesser crime to get his cooperation/confession.
Its not just scalping tickets; its like millions of Euros reselling tickets. A huge difference.
If this shoe really does drop, it could the one that leads some to major developments…
OOh! OOh! One more until Sepp!!!! It’s getting harder and harder for Mr. Blatter to have any distance from all this!
If you look quickly, you may see him boarding a flight to parts unknown, and taking a lot of FIFA loot with him.
