Two of Germany’s most successful clubs during the 2014-15 campaign do battle Tuesday in an effort to keep pace with current league leaders Borrusia Dortmund.

Reigning Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich hosts reigning league cup winner Wolfsburg Tuesday at the Allianz Arena. Bayern comes into the meeting red hot, especially after securing two consecutive 3-0 wins in league play. Wolfsburg is the only team to defeat their Munich counterpart this campaign, though, as it handed Bayern a loss in the Super Cup to start the season.

In England, Capital One Cup action continues, and a U.S. Men’s National Team regular is expected to debut. DeAndre Yedlin and Sunderland will face off against English Premier League leaders Manchester City.

The CONCACAF Champions League group stage continues into the evening, as D.C. United has a comfortable affair against Montego Bay United after already securing advancement into the knockout stage of the competition.

  1. Seriously Zealem?

Hes outperforming guys in the scottish 2nd division? Isnt that quality of your local high school team?

  2. Torres in his prime was better than RVP in his prime

Remember Torres is only 31. He scored like 75 goals for a mid table team in Spain. And 65 goals in 3.5 years at Liverpool.

    Dont forget about him

  3. If one game were enough to warrant this, I’d say yedlin has earned some minuets (whether rotating starts or simply subbing on) an Van Aanholt is playin his was to the bench. The left side of the attack was non existent and van a can seem overly confident and loses the ball or makes a very bad pass. Perhaps moving billy jones to the left and yedlin on the right would make sense —but since Man U is next maybe not… Lol

  4. Didn’t see the game but sounds like Yedlin played well today despite the result. Hopefully that translates into a spot in the lineup for the next league game.

  5. yedlin EASILY could have had 2 assists today, he’s had his mistakes here and there but he’s showing well and hour in

  6. RvP is overrated

To me its Suarez, Ibra and Lewandowski

LEWANDOWSKI has been the best striker in germany for years but i doubt the English media care

  7. i know it could be a threat etc but i love seeing a fan run around on the field, in the harmless fun sort of way

  8. Dear Cattermole,

please update your style of play and overall fashion style. both are dated and terrible…

  9. i can’t see the game but from reading the play by play online Yedlin seems to be handling his own but my god is Sunderland horrible!!!!

  10. To me Lewandowski is among the top 5 strikers in the world. But maybe its cause hes Polish he is underrated. Always among the top 3 goalscorers in Bundesliga for the past 4 years.

But he doesnt get the love Suarez or RVP or Ibrahimovic or Rooney gets.

      • tru but today he’s killing them defensively. what formation are they playing? it looks like they’re playing a 541 with yedlin as an RCB almost and AJ as the RWB. like Van A, Oshea, Coates, Yedlin, AJ… very weird lineup. just allowing for MCI to sneak in behind AJ since he refuses to play defense.

    • He is also a very selfish player if I recall.

Can’t believe I am watching this team again – stopped well before Jozy left and looks like they might be even worse. Yedlin looks fine so far and he might improve defensively after some time here.

      • difference with watching yedlin with sunderland (which i can’t bring myself to do yet) as opposed to jozy is that yedlin, being on defense, might get within 40 yards of the ball more than once a game.

      • lol, yea while trying to defend from the onslaught of the opposition after the midfield gave it away… 🙂

  11. there will be a lot of US ‘fans’ that will see the 3-0 (if not worse) scoreline and think Yedlin played terribly. it has not been the case so far. two GK mistakes and a PK (that looked on the edge of the box) has been what has hurt Sunderland today. Yedlin looking alert, confident and active at the least

    • Are you saying, you don’t mind if Sunderland go down, if in the process, DeAndre plays regularly and plays great?

That Whining guy will disagree with you.

      Reply
      • Surely you must realize that Yedlin is a property of Tottenham, not Sunderland, and whether Sunderland goes down or not has no direct bearing on Yedlin’s future. Now, if he becomes the reason they go down, that’s a whole other story.

    • Great play by Deandre! Had the fans and the announcers cheering him.

then of course Sunderland gives up ANOTHER goal…i’ll tee you up here, DLOA:

      • hahah thanks: SUNDERLAND……L…….O……L…..

btw that goal was 100% on Mannone the GK, you can’t get beat near post like that.

  12. ANNNND like that Sunderland gives up a penalty just a few minutes into the game (thankfully not Deandre). and so since someone has to say it:

    Sunderland…LOL

    Reply
    • under 10 minutes in, Sunderland down 1-0. Van Aanholt with a “penalty” on Navas (looked to be on the edge of the box to me

  13. AJ JUST SCORED!!! holy moly, i literally just launched the stream and they were showing the replay. A guy for Bremen got loose on the end line, and served in a cross: AJ dove close to the ground and powered it in with his head.

THEN, as i’m typing this, the keeper for Darmstadt (hmm, that name just says “relegation” to me) flubs the ball away, so AJ takes it and takes a difficult angled shot that was heading in, only for a defender to clear it off the line at the last second. wow.

  15. I haven’t seen AJ play this year and I know his team has started out somewhat successful, bit I feel like he really needs a goal today, his team recently picked up Pizarrio, they could start looking else where at forward if he doesn’t start producing.

Does anyone have a good sense as to how he has faired so far in the BL.

  16. alot of americans playing at onces today. so far:

zelalem is starting vs a 1st division scotland team

AJ is starting in bundesliga play

and yedlin should start vs man cuty, with maybe hyndman playing with ream.

If brooks is fit, he might make bench

    Morales is starting

    Guzan and howard should start

    Novacovich might play with williams
