It all just keeps getting better and better for Andrew Wooten.
Wooten added to his season scoring total on Friday by netting the equalizer in Sandhausen’s 1-1 home draw with VfL Bochum. The 25-year-old forward canceled out a fourth-minute penalty kick with one of his own two minutes before halftime, salvaging a result and preventing his club from dropping a second straight match.
The in-form Wooten, who just returned from his first U.S. Men’s National Team camp, is now tied for the the 2. Bundesliga lead in goals scored with six. He is level with SC Freiburg attacker Nils Petersen, and is two shy of his career high.
What do you think about Wooten scoring yet again? Do you see him staying in the hunt for the 2. Bundesliga lead in goals all season? How many will he finish with in league play this campaign?

Not saying we have the same depth, but is Nils Petersen even getting a sniff from the German national team…
I doubt it, they don’t choose players not in the Bundesliga, EPL, La Liga, or Serie A. He has been sold twice first at Bayern and then Bremen, so moves down with each transfer. He’s scoring at a torrid pace, so who knows.
I don’t see Freiburg selling him in January either since he’s pretty much their only offense and they are in position early on for promotion. Germany does have Georgia in qualifying in Oct. so I suppose its possible if they want to rest others. Almost all of the German current strikers are younger than him to, so that wouldn’t help his cause either.
Of course Peterson is not even close, he plays in the second division. There are enough German strikers in the first division like Kruse at Wolfsburg or Volland at Hoffenheim Löw could try if he wanted to.
But then, the false 9 with Götze instead of a relatively static true 9 has proven quite successfull for us.
Did he drew the penalty himself or was he just the taker.
