The U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team may have played just two days ago, but Andi Herzog is sticking with many of the same players in an effort to secure early qualification to the next round.
The U.S. plays its second group game of CONCACAF Olympic qualifying on Saturday against depleted Cuba (5 pm ET, Telemundo) at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kansas. The Americans were victorious in their first match against Canada, and another triumph would give them passage to the knockout rounds of the competition.
Herzog has introduced some new faces to the lineup for this one, but is sticking with several of the same players who got the nod on Thursday night. Jordan Morris, Matt Miazga, and Zack Steffen are all starting again, and they are paired with others like Luis Gil and Marc Pelosi who will be looking to state their cases for more minutes.
SBI will be providing live commentary on all of tonight’s action so feel free to follow along with us. As always, you are welcome to share your own thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

Way finish, Pelosi out and a goal against, just to muddy up the water.
I thought that third goal was a real thing of beauty. Thinking about Morris, I can’t think of many former US strikers who compare with what he has done so far. He’s fast, has skill on the ball, so smooth the way he runs and is a good finisher. He’s like Donovan with real good size. Man, I wish he would turn pro soon. What a prospect.
Any YouTube feeds? I know they had one for the canada game
If you’re in TX you should get Telemundo. That’s almost like Mexico down there.
Not impressed after the first half. I keep saying the game that matters is that semifinals. Of course we would like to avoid El Tri U23 in the semis. Therefore winning the group is essential. So far so good.
Carter Vickers is an abject freak. While I’m sure we were all hoping that the “next big thing” amongst US prospects would be a flashy attacker, we should be very happy with what he have if this dude sticks with the program.
