With the UEFA Champions League and Europa League taking a break in action, domestic cup play steals the spotlight this week, and tasty matchups in England and Germany headline Tuesday’s soccer.
In the DFB Pokal, Bayern Munich heads to Volkswagen Arena to play Wolfsburg. Bayern has yet to lose or even tie against Bundesliga competition in the 2015-16 campaign, and Arjen Robben might compete once again after returning to the lineup from a lengthy absence Saturday against FC Koln.
Wolfsburg will rely on Julian Draxler and Max Kruse to lead it past the favorites, as the team attempts a repeat run at the domestic cup crown.
In England, Chelsea and Stoke City meet in an intriguing Capital One Cup match. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has not had much success in league play so far this season, but a cup win against a fellow-English Premier League side may be spark the team needs to help turn the season around.
