The MLS conference finals will end on Sunday, and an unlikely matchup awaits in the MLS Cup final on Dec. 6 if results stay true.

That matchup currently pits the Columbus Crew against the Portland Timbers, as each of those two teams hold a two-goal advantage over the New York Red Bulls and FC Dallas, respectively.

The Timbers were able to defeat visiting FC Dallas, 3-1, last Sunday. To boost their efforts in Frisco, Texas, the Timbers will have Rodney Wallace and Diego Valeri at their disposal. FC Dallas has been exceptional at home, however, and while Fabian Castillo was, for the most part, contained in the first leg, he is bound to make an impact at any moment.

On the East Coast, the Red Bulls host the Crew, hoping to come back from a 2-0 deficit. Justin Meram gave the Crew the fastest of starts with his record-breaking goal last Sunday at MAPFRE Stadium. The Red Bulls, led by Sacha Kljestan, Dax McCarty and Bradley Wright-Phillips will hope they can produce a similar start to Sunday’s final game.
