Marc Dos Santos may have found a new partner, but so too has Ottawa Fury FC.

On the same day that its first head coach, Dos Santos, joined USL side Swope Park Rangers, Fury FC announced on Friday that Paul Dalglish had signed on to be the NASL club’s next manager. Dalglish joins Fury FC after mostly recently serving as the head coach and technical director of the third-division Austin Aztex, and will fill both roles for Fury FC as well.

“The head coach position at Ottawa Fury FC has garnered significant interest and, in Paul, we have attracted one of the most impressive young coaches in North America,” Fury FC president John Pugh said in a statement. “His passion for the game is infectious and the energy and strong values he will bring to the role will have a very positive impact across the club. Paul will immediately look to further strengthen the roster for 2016 and build on our successful 2015 season.”

Dalglish, a 38-year-old Scotsman, boasts plenty of experience as both a player and head coach. He suited up for a number of clubs during his days as a striker, including English Premier League outfit Newcastle United and the Houston Dynamo side that won the MLS Cup back in 2006.

At the coaching level, Dalglish has served as an assistant for both the Dynamo and Real Salt Lake. He has also managed FC Tampa Bay and the Aztex.

Dalglish will have the challenge of trying to guide Fury FC to an NASL title. The club reached the NASL Championship this season, but fell on the road to the New York Cosmos, 3-1, this past Sunday.

“I am absolutely delighted with the opportunity to take over an Ottawa team that is in such a good position from the work of Marc and his staff,” Dalglish said in the same statement. “To get the job after this group had such a successful season is an honor and a privilege.

“This club is set up for success. The infrastructure is second to none in this league and there is a great environment here. My family and I are excited to start our Canadian adventure.”
