They are so close to the MLS Cup final that they can taste it.

FC Dallas, the Portland Timbers, New York Red Bulls, and Columbus Crew are all set to continue their respective quests for the league’s ultimate prize this weekend when the conference finals get underway. The first legs in each series will be played on Sunday, with the Red Bulls traveling to Mapfre Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, to play the Crew in the East while FC Dallas visit the Timbers at Providence Park in the West.

All four clubs are expecting tough matches, but are also feeling pretty good about their chances to advance to the MLS Cup final on Dec. 6. Only one team from each conference will advance after these 180-minute slugfests, however, and it is not easy to pick between them given how well they all played at the end of regular season and the quality they have shown in the playoffs.

Will Caleb Porter and the Timbers be the ones from the Western Conference to book a ticket to the MLS Cup final, or will it be the Fabian Castillo-led FC Dallas? Are the Red Bulls going to continue their dream season in the Eastern Conference under Jesse Marsch, or is it Kei Kamara and the Crew that will be playing for a trophy in about two weeks’ time?
