The U.S. Men’s National Team’s recent struggles have led to a dip in the team’s FIFA ranking.

FIFA’s most recent rankings came out Thursday, with the USMNT slipping four spots to 33rd in the world. The decline comes on the heels of the CONCACAF Cup loss to Mexico, as well as a friendly defeat against Costa Rica.

El Tri, meanwhile, jumped three spots to 24th, while Costa Rica saw a two-spot jump up to 40th in the world. Trinidad & Tobago saw the biggest jump among CONCACAF contenders with a five-spot leap up to 54th, leapfrogging Jamaica, which fell four spots to 61st.

The world also has a new No. 1, with Belgium making the two-spot leap to the top overall ranking. Germany remains second, while Argentina, who was previously ranked first, falls two positions down to third.

Turkey proved to be the rankings big winners, jumping from 37th to 19th in the world on the heels of strong European qualifying performances, while Wales fell seven places to 15th after previously shocking the world with a top 10 ranking.

What do you think of the FIFA rankings? Think the U.S. is rated too high, too low, or just right? Which teams do you see ranked most unfairly?

    • You wouldn’t be surprised? Man you must really have a hatred for USA. You’re the worst kind of fan because you’re the kind that hopes the USA does bad just because you’re a brat. But you’re their biggest baddest fan when they’re doing well.

Go find a new team to support, USA has enough of you type of fans

      • He said “wouldn’t be surprised” not “I hope they are ranked lower than Guam” smh. Reading comprehension

      • Relax RB he’s trying to get someone to freak out. Its not even statistically possible for the US to fall below Guam for like 5 years and that would involve losing every game over that time period and even then I think we’d still be up.

    • Ranking aren’t based off one game, like OIe Miss beat Alabama in college football, but Alabama is #4 and Ole Miss is like #16. And in the crazy Fifa system credit goes back several years for your points.

Also last four games for Jamaica 1-3 with a win over Nicaragua, last four games for US 1-3 victory over Peru who is ranked higher than Nicaragua. US in 2015 9-3-5 (2-6 Panama in GC I think counts as a tie for rankings but either way) Jamaica 7-1-6.
