John Brooks scores header in German Cup win

John Brooks Hertha Berlin 29

John Brooks has gone from not scoring at all to scoring twice in three games.

Brooks helped Hertha Berlin advance in DFB Pokal by scoring the insurance goal in a 2-0 road win over Nurnberg on Wednesday. The 22-year-old centerback struck in the 65th minute, beating his defender to the spot on a corner kick and heading neatly to the far post.

The goal not only played a part in Hertha Berlin advancing to the quarterfinals of the German cup, but it also gave Brooks his second tally in his last three matches across all competitions. Brooks, a subject of recent transfer talk, found the winner vs. Bayer Leverkusen earlier this month via a similar header.

Prior to that Dec. 5 finish, Brooks had not scored at the club level since Dec. 17, 2014.

What do you think of Brooks’ latest goal-scoring performance? How far can he and Hertha Berlin go in DFB Pokal? See him leaving the club soon? Should he stay given his regular playing time or challenge himself elsewhere?

She said that while ignoring her friend, Sydney LeRoux whose father is American, never met him, and was born, raised in Canada, and played with the Canadian national team through u20.

  1. The more telling aspect is the clean sheet. Scoring is always nice coming from a defender, but naturally, defending is most important. Glad to see his consistency and playing time are on the rise. Should bode well for the USMNT going forward.
