
Major League Soccer released the 2016 home openers for every club on Tuesday, with the season slated to begin on March 6.
The full schedule will be released on January 7, including the full U.S. national television schedule.
The 21st MLS season will begin with a bang when defending 2015 MLS Cup champions Portland Timbers play host to last year’s runners’ up Columbus Crew SC. The match will be nationally televised on ESPN and ESPN Deportes.
Opening weekend features ten matches, all of which will be played on Sunday, March 6. Including Timbers-Crew, five of those matches will be televised on major networks.
The day kicks off with reigning Eastern Conference champions New York Red Bulls hosting Sebastian Giovinco and Toronto FC at Red Bull Arena. The jam-packed day of soccer will conclude when the Los Angeles Galaxy host DC United at StubHub Center.
Seven teams will host their first match of 2016 in Week 2, which includes the Montreal Impact hosting the New York Red Bulls at Olympic Stadium. Week 3 will feature D.C. United and the Philadelphia Union opening their home campaigns against the Colorado Rapids and New England Revolution, respectively.
Toronto FC will be the last team to hold its home opener due to renovations at BMO Field. The Reds will play their first home match in Week 12 against FC Dallas.
