The Chicago Fire have been relatively quiet this offseason when it comes to signing talent from outside the U.S., but that changed on Friday.

Across the Atlantic, Eredivisie club FC Groningen confirmed it had transferred 25-year-old defender Johan Kappelhof to the Chicago Fire, and he’s likely to sign a multi-year contract. Kappelhof has started in 127 games the past five years, including 18 during the 2015-16 campaign. (REPORT)

Rodney Wallace is apparently heading to Portugal after top-flight club FC Arouca announced the acquisition of the 27-year-old winger from MLS Cup champions Portland Timbers. (REPORT)

While a previous report stated he was not interested in a move to MLS, Alfred Finnbogason is reportedly still in discussions with the Montreal Impact, and “the ball is now in the player’s court.” He is currently on loan away from Spanish side Real Sociedad, but has not seen much action for Olympiakos. Four Impact players, meanwhile, will join Serie A side Bologna to train. The players heading to Italy include Thomas Meilleur-Giguère, Marco Dominguez, David Choinière and Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla. (REPORT)

The Vancouver Whitecaps announced the acquisition of Canadian right back/winger Fraser Aird on a season-long loan. He makes the move over from Scottish club Rangers FC, and will join the team on Saturday ahead of preseason friendlies in Tucson, Arizona. (REPORT)

The Columbus Crew reportedly offered to purchase Panamanian striker Ricardo Clarke from Venezuelan outfit Zamora FC. Zamora has allegedly rejected the bid for the 23-year-old Clarke, and the two have clubs have yet to come to an agreement. (REPORT)

Orlando City SC will reportedly invest $20 million in building a new 23-acre training facility at Lake Nona. It is set to open in 2017. (REPORT)
