A couple of signings were made in the Western Conference, New York City FC will officially have a new president come March and more:
The LA Galaxy confirmed recent reports by signing 32-year-old free agent Jeff Larentowicz. The journeyman midfielder moves to the Galaxy after after 11 seasons in MLS, starting in 94 of 95 appearances for the Chicago Fire during the past three years. (REPORT)
New York City FC officially named Jon Patricof as its new club president, a position he is expected to begin ahead of the 2016 MLS season in March. Tom Glick, current NYCFC president, will work with Patricof until then to help the transition, and assume a role overseeing commercial activities for City Football Group later this year. (REPORT)
The Vancouver Whitecaps finalized a transfer with Uruguayan side Club Atlético River Plate Montevideo to acquire Cristian Techera. The 5-foot-2, 23-year-old midfielder joins on a multi-year deal after scoring seven goals and recording five assists in 26 appearances, including playoff matches. (REPORT)
New York City FC players Patrick Mullins, Kwadwo Poku, Tony Taylor, Thomas McNamara and R.J. Allen reportedly headed to England on Wednesday to train with Manchester City. They will then join NYCFC to start preseason training in Bradenton, Florida, on Jan. 21. (REPORT)
Former LA Galaxy captain Peter Vagenas was named vice president of soccer operations on Wednesday. In conjunction with head coach Bruce Arena, he will oversee the club’s academy, LA Galaxy II and the first team. (REPORT)
Orlando City SC announced a local broadcast partnership with Orlando’s WRDQ TV 27 will become the broadcast home of the Lions for multiple years. Subsequently, WRDQ TV 27 will air all of OCSC’s non-nationally televised MLS games during the regular season and postseason. (REPORT)

This is a great signing for LA. I hope Larentowiczis plays d-mid so Gerard can be Gerard. I expect he will be a good deal cheaper than Juni was (I already miss that guy). Still don’t know how Bruce expects to play Zardes at striker with Dos Santos on the roster. Don’t think Gio can play enough defense to be in the midfield. A 3-5-2 would do it, but you’ll need a special kind defensive three to pull that of. Has Lescott ever played in a 3 at the back system?
Well, you can’t say that the Galaxy aren’t experienced. I will give them that.
