NASL Ticker: Strikers, Rayo OKC and more

With the start of the 2016 season already just a few months away, several NASL clubs have begun preseason preparations while others have continued to bolster their rosters ahead of the 2016 campaign. Here are some of Monday’s NASL news and notes:

Rayo OKC signed Ghanaian international and two-time World Cup participant Derek Boateng. The midfielder, who was a member of the Black Stars at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, has previously featured for Fulham, Getafe, FC Koln and, most recently, Eibar. (REPORT)

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers have added U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team midfielder Luis Felipe Fernandes. The 19-year-old joins the club from Cruzeiro and had been a member of the Brazilian club’s youth setup in 2008. (REPORT)

The Strikers held Brazilian champions Corinthians to a scoreless draw on Sunday afternoon and will face Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday in the team’s fourth international friendly of the month. (REPORT)

Miami FC topped Boca Raton FC, 4-0, in a preseason friendly. (REPORT)

What do you think of the Boateng signing? How will Fernandes fit with the Strikers? What preseason friendlies are you looking forward to?

  1. It seems to me that NASL are making more exciting signings than MLS so far this offseason. Fernandes is nice and Boateng is an awesome signing. Eibar are fighting for Europe in Spain.
