  1. LoL
    For the love of everything sweet in this world…. please no. If Saturday running commentary degrades into “Yedlin Watch” anything at all like it did with Jozy’s run for Sunderland… where his every expression and minute step on the pitch was dissected and analyzed to death….. I just may have to stop clicking.

  2. Only saw about 15 minutes of the Sunderland game, but looked like Yedlin got away with what should have been a penalty.

  3. SUNDERLAND……..L……..O………L…..

    Tellin again having a polarizing game; he either did solidly well or terribly bad. His 1v1 defending isn’t bad. Doesn’t get beat off the dribble too often but he does have terrible positioning for a fullback which allows for easy crosses (see arsenals goals today…) but he does well in the attack. Still a work in progress but this first season getting minutes in the epl could do wonders for him 2-3 years down the line

    • And yet people still complain about Klinsmann playing him as a winger. It’s clear that Yedlin is not yet a top defender, but his crossing and attacking are good. He belongs on the wing for now for the US.

      • Problem is, his off the ball movement is poor when you put him the midfield. His speed is pretty much a neutralized because he doesn’t know how to make a timed run, or create space for himself in behind a defense. His attacking as a fullback looks good because he can come from deep and exploit the space given to him.

      • Jack, I agree with everything you just said. But what would be your solution? Not playing him until he learns to defend better? Play him in defense and just accept that he will give away chances every game? I personally like the approach JK is taking. I think we can all agree he is a talent worth investing in, so not having him play is not an option. Playing RB against minnows like St. Vincent, where his defending isn’t as much of a liability (although even then it led to a goal); but keeping him on the field, but in a less liable position like RM, will still allow him the game time to defend 1v1, get him attacking reps on the ball to learn when to time crosses etc., and building chemistry and cohesion with the midfield and striker.

        We’re still 2.5 years out from the WC. If he’s still rotating positions in April 2018, playing one game at RB against Azerbaijan and another at RM against Turkey, then we got problems.

  4. Gorgeous dribbling and inch perfect lofted cross by Yedlin directly onto the head of Fletcher directly centered 5 feet in front of goal and Fletch somehow clangs it off the crossbar. Absolutely beautiful play by DAY.Shameful miss.I can’t believe the Cats haven’t moved on from Fletcher. He’s a health risk, a guy that does little else other than head the ball into goal and he doesn’t even consistently do that.

    • Are we freaking out by:
      (1) blaming any and all Arsenal goals on him;
      (2) understating any positives that he has on the game for Sunderland; or (my personal favorite)
      (3) glossing over the fact that he is playing and simply stating that Sunderland is a terrible team?

    • Yedlin likely started due to his speed to stay with Walcott and the other Arsenal forwards. He also can attack, and as we see below got a good cross in that should/could have resulted in a goal. Unfortunatley, Yedlin appears to be a bit light technically as he fell asleep on the Giroud goal and is clearly the place where Arsenal has attacked.
