Manchester United head coach Louis Van Gaal’s job may be on the line come Sunday, Alexis Sanchez could feature for Arsenal over the weekend, FIFA sanctioned Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid and more:

FIFA bans Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid from signing players during the next two transfer windows — not including this January transfer window — after being found guilty of violating “several provisions concerning the international transfer and first registration of minor players as well as other relevant provisions with regard to the registration and participation of certain players in competitions.” (REPORT)

Van Gaal is reportedly close to being sacked by Man United ahead of the club’s away match vs. Liverpool on Sunday. (REPORT)

Chilean star Sanchez will undergo a fitness test ahead of Sunday’s English Premier League match against Stoke City, while Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger says, “It is not impossible that he will be involved.” (REPORT)

    • Barca was able to get deals lined up before its ban – for transactions before and after the ban took effect.

      Also BG – liked your post on the CONCACAF referee announcement. I found it interesting that CONCACAF concedes that is assignment policies are different than FIFA’s. How is that possible and I wonder how big of a difference there is in the policies?

    I like the current format for the daily Kickoff and Rewind. Distinct paragraphs make it easy to see the basic premise of the article and the links are generally usable.
