Two MLS veteran are switching Western Conference clubs this Tuesday, while the MLS Cup champions are close to adding another winger.

The Vancouver Whitecaps announced the acquisition of Blas Perez, signing the 34-year-old Panamanian striker to a one-year deal. In exchange, FC Dallas receives 34-year-old midfielder Mauro Rosales. (REPORT)

The Whitecaps also revealed 31-year-old goalkeeper David Ousted agreed to a new multi-year deal. The 6-foot-4 netminder has recorded 30 shutouts in 81 starts over three seasons for the Western Conference club. (REPORT)

Portland Timbers head coach Caleb Porter revealed the team is looking to add another winger, saying: “We’ve honed in on a couple targets, two targets in particular. We’re going to make a decision on one and then hopefully we can get the deal done.” (REPORT)

Chicago Fire general manager Nelson Rodriguez explained why the team traded Harry Shipp to the Montreal Impact, saying: “When we looked at the current composition of our team, and also the pieces we were looking to add, we were increasingly concerned that Harry was going to be an odd man out.” (REPORT)

Orlando City SC right back Rafael Ramos reportedly signed a multi-year deal with the Lions. The 21-year-old played in 25 games for Orlando City during its inaugural season. (REPORT)

Orlando City also announced the start of its #FillTheBowlAgain campaign. Last season’s campaign drew 62,510 fans for the Lions’ inaugural home game at the Orlando Citrus Bowl. (REPORT)

What do you think of Perez’s move to the Whitecaps? How do you see Rosales fitting into FC Dallas’ matchday roster? What do you think of Rodriguez’s comments?

  1. Possibility of Portland moving for Meram? Columbus has a ton of good wingers on their team, Meram has proved to be a valuable MLS player, and with Columbus possibly signing Falcao they would need to trade one of their players and I don’t see that being Finlay, Larsen, or Cedrick.

  2. The Fire’s FO needs to stop speaking about the Shipp trade… We absolutely got screwed in the deal and their “justifications” just keep getting worse. Pauno actually went on the record today saying they dealt him because another team was interested… Seriously? The kids value on transfer watch was around 900k and it’s being rumored we got 100k. That is straight up horrible negotiating. We currently have 21 players on the team and absolutely zero depth at CAM. Shipp was making about 100k a year, there was no reason to get rid of him. The response from the FO being concerned about him not getting enough playing time is the worst BS I’ve ever heard… It’s called cheap, young depth folks. But don’t worry, the FO says they have plenty of #10s options out there to get still… It is entirely possible that Andrew Hauptman is THEE worst owner of a pro sports franchise in the Western hemisphere. All I can really hope for is that selling off every young, talented asset is the precursor to AH selling the team.

    • From a Union fan, I feel bad for you… and I know dysfunctional management when I see it. I don’t understand the trade either. Thankfully, we have someone running our team now. Good Luck.

    • Remember, Nelson Rodriguez is the man the MLS appointed to oversee the dismantling of Chivas USA two years ago. Maybe he doesn’t realize that now he’s supposed to be helping put a team together, not take one apart.

    • Might be a sign that Acosta is going to be playing much more on defense this year instead of plugging into the midfield like he did when he got back from injury and international duty last season. He started the season as a right back, and I’m thinking that we’ll end up playing him as an LB this year since JK seems to think that’s where his future will be, at least internationally.
