January ended with many important clashes going down, and so there were scores of must-see moments from over the weekend. Here are SBI’s picks for The Weekend’s Best (as voted by SBI’s editorial staff):
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CRISTIANO RONALDO (Real Madrid). The Portuguese star showcased why he was still one of the world’s best players on Sunday, scoring a hat trick to help Real Madrid defeat Espanyol, 6-0.
Honorable Mention– Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Oscar, Kelechi Iheanacho
TEAM OF THE WEEK
AC MILAN. In the biggest derby of the weekend, the Derby della Madonnina, Milan secured an emphatic 3-0 win against Internazionale at San Siro to inch closer towards a European qualification spot in Serie A.
Honorable Mention– Barcelona, Real Madrid, Pachuca

BARCELONA 2, ATLETICO MADRID 1. Barcelona’s La Liga win against Atletico was undoubtedly the most important one of the weekend, and had plenty of enthralling action, including two red cards handed out to Madrid.
