  1. I rather see on TV someone Giovinco-type player than Kamara. Making flops into “DP’s” won’t help increase MLS fan base or help MLS gain some respect in CONCACAF and Internationally.

    • It is also REALLY hard to get elite D players to go to Columbus. Sorry it is. You can get a Keane, Giovinco, or Drogba to go to Dynamic, international cities, but not to Columbus…sorry.

    • I think everyone would love to have a Giovinco, but not everyone has 6mil to splash on a player. There are plenty of 1mil DP’s that were duds, so the fact that Kamara was golden boot runner up, MVP runner up, and generally more productive than a lot of DP’s in the league says a lot.

I also don’t see a sophomore slump for him this year – Crew is bringing back the same starting 11 as soon as Meram is fit. Wando and BWP slumped their next year after becoming DP’s because the team around them changed.

I think this is worth it.

    • Frankly, I am happy that MLS plays some players that came through the MLS setup to become MLS stars. Especially those that have some MLS name recognition, which Kamara does. It shows young guys that MLS will pay you 7 figures without you going abroad. I just wish that they stop playing some USMNT players $6million when that not that type of quality. Better him than Liam RIdgewell.

  2. I agree Kamara deserve a raise but not DP. Kamara as DP won’t increase T.V. ratings or sell jerseys, or won’t be much of a factor in CONCACAF.

    • Yeah but what could Columbus really do? They are so built around creating chances but you have to have someone to put them away. Any striker you bring in and can do that consistently is going to be at DP cost.

      • Kamara has failed career abroad and only has one great season like 2015. Reason why max salary needs to be increase like 600k with some performance bonuses.
