Soccer Wednesday: Your Running Commentary

chelsea-psg

Real Madrid and Wolfsburg became the first two sides in this season’s UEFA Champions League to qualify for the quarter-finals, and two more teams will have the opportunity to duplicate that feat on Wednesday.

Chelsea, currently trailing 2-1, will host Paris Saint-Germain at Stamford Bridge, while Zenit Saint Petersburg meets Portuguese side Benfica. The Russian club trails Benfica 1-0, as the teams head to the Petrovsky Stadium.

In France, Bastia-Nantes and Ajaccio-Marseille will take to the field today, however, neither match will be televised.

Copa MX action takes over the nightcap, as Guadalajara faces Dorados in a critical Group 1 matchup and Atlético San Luis has the opportunity to advance to the knockout phase with a win against Celaya.

The U.S. Women’s National Team and Germany will battle for the SheBelieves Cup title, with both sides currently level on six points through two matches.

  1. Gotta scratch your head over the fact the ESPN has elected to air ESPN FC while relegating the USWNT / Germany match to EPSN 3. Disappointing.

    • Very disappointing! This little tournament has featured some of the best teams against each other. I would have forgone some of the other games they televised in the last few months to be able to watch this game tonight!

Guess I’m going to have to put on my eye patch and peg leg on and drag my laptop out to the bar with me…

  2. Rumor that Stoke has some interest in bringing Bedoya in this summer. (Tangentially, Bedoya not in the 18 for today’s Ligue 1 match.)
