After being arrested for driving under the influence on April 3, former U.S. Women’s National Team forward Abby Wambach plead guilty to the charges in Portland, Oregon, on Tuesday.
According to the Oregonian, Wambach stood before a judge at the Multnomah County Circuit Court, and took responsibility for the charges. In exchange for her guilty plea, Wambach will be enrolled a drug and alcohol treatment facility.
The 35-year-old must also install a breathalyzer in her vehicle and refrain from consuming alcohol.
As part of the program, Wambach’s charge will be dismissed in a year if she successfully meets the conditions.
Wambach’s attorney, Ben Eder, told Judge Steven Todd that his client’s alcohol level on the night of the arrest was .13 percent. Oregon’s legal limit is .08 percent.

Glad she is getting help.
She made a horrible decision and put other people’s lives in jeopardy, but at least she owned it when she was busted and didn’t blame the cops or anyone else.
Praise isn’t awarded to someone that takes responsibility for exhibiting reckless behavior that potentially threatens the safety and lives of others. I’m not referring just to you, Rory, but I have no idea why society is so quick to congratulate idiots that commit crimes but “take responsibility” for doing so after.
Praise should be reserved for the normal adults who act within the limits of societal boundaries/laws/regulations. No one is saying to kick her when she’s down, but let’s hold off on patting Wambach on the back for taking responsibility for this reckless behavior she selfishly committed to begin with.

Perhaps we can apply the praise if she utilizes her public platform to educate or speak out on the dangers of drunk driving.
