Americans plying their trade in Europe and Mexico will face off against their compatriots this weekend, with battles taking place on both ends of the table.
A German Bundesliga matchup with UEFA Champions League implications will feature an American on either side. Fabian Johnson and Borussia Moenchengladbach play host to John Brooks and Hertha Berlin on Sunday, with Moenchengladbach in need of a result to continue the fight for next season’s Champions League. Although both players were absent from the USMNT bench over the international break, we could see both of them starting on Sunday for their club teams.
It’s another clash of Americans at the bottom of the English Championship, as Tim Ream, Emerson Hyndman and Fulham host Cody Cropper and Milton Keynes Dons. The home team sits just one point above MK Dons as these teams fight relegation in the season’s final stretch. And at the top of Liga MX, William Yarbrough, Miguel Ibarra and Club Leon host league leaders Edgar Castillo and Monterrey.
Elsewhere, Bobby Wood returns to FC Union Berlin after starting both of the USMNT’s games against Guatemala. The striker did suffer a horrible miss in the home leg, but Wood will look to continue his record-breaking club form as he faces off against St. Pauli on Friday.

LeHAC sit in 3rd place on 55 points after 32 matches. Bradley’s side could be in 4th if Red Star beat cellar dwelling neighbors Paris FC. Dijon and Nancy meet in a top of the table clash. A Dijon win would almost guarantee them promotion and open up the race for the second spot.
Make no mistake, mon freres, Bob Bradley is the middle of a heck of a race. the top 6 clubs are within 9 points of each other.
Brooks and Fabian Johnson both starting in Germany, a week after not being injured enough for the National Team.. okay finally the April Fools post arrives!
Just read on sky sports that Jozy Altidore has been traded back to Sunderland to help with the relegation from battle as a player who twice has experience staying above the relegation line
That is too far fetched even for April 1. 😉
As a Sunderland supporter, you must be thrilled by these developments.
I was never a Sunderland supporter, merely hired by SBI as the go-to Subderland reporter for all things Sundarland
(Ed. Note: the misspellings of ‘Sunderland’ we’re not intended yet were noticed and intentionally kept in my comment… lol)
