It may have been an international break, but several MLS teams took the field last week, signaling several moves up and down the SBI MLS Power Rankings.

Last week’s big winner was FC Dallas, who stormed past a helpless D.C. United side to once again demonstrate just how dangerous the team’s attack can be. The Vancouver Whitecaps also furthered their case with a win, albeit a less lopsided one, as Carl Robinson’s side took down the surging Houston Dynamo.

Elsewhere, New York City FC earned a disappointing draw with the 10-man Revs, capping off  a short, yet tumultuous, weekend of MLS action.

Here is a look at the SBI MLS Power Rankings for Week 4:

SBI MLS Power Rankings (Week 3)

1. (Last week-1) SPORTING KANSAS CITY (3-0-0)

LAST WEEK: BYE

THIS WEEK: vs. Real Salt Lake on Saturday

OUTLOOK– Sporting KC got the job done last time out against Toronto FC, but enter a matchup with Real Salt Lake a bit shorthanded. Matt Besler’s status is in doubt due to a concussion, while Graham Zusi may not feature after playing for the U.S. Men’s National Team on Tuesday. Helping the cause will be the return of Benny Feilhaber, giving Sporting KC a much-needed boost.

2. (2) FC DALLAS (3-1-0)

LAST WEEK: Defeated D.C. United, 3-0, on Saturday

THIS WEEK: vs. Columbus Crew on Saturday

OUTLOOK– FC Dallas continued to light up the opposition on Saturday with yet another statement victory in the 3-0 defeat of D.C. United. Maxi Urruti has proven to be a remarkable signing for a club loaded with attacking talent. Mauro Diaz continues to evolve into the league’s top playmaker, as FC Dallas has regained their reputation following the Dynamo drubbing a few weeks back.

3. (3) MONTREAL IMPACT (2-1-0)

LAST WEEK: BYE

THIS WEEK: At Seattle Sounders on Saturday

OUTLOOK– For the first time this season, the Impact looked beatable last time out and will get a chance at redemption against the Sounders. Even with a cameo appearance from Didier Drogba, the Impact were the second best team last time out against FC Dallas. There will be no Drogba this weekend, and the Impact will need to put forward a good performance against a tough Sounders team.

4. (4) LOS ANGELES GALAXY (2-1-0)

LAST WEEK: BYE

THIS WEEK: At Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday

OUTLOOK– In the season’s first California Clasico, the Galaxy emerged victorious, but questions still remain. Where do Steven Gerrard and Giovani Dos Santos fit? What’s the Galaxy’s best lineup? Those will need to be answered as the season moves on and the DPs push back into the lineup at full health. Saturday’s clash with the Whitecaps could provide answers for a team still looking for its identity.

5. (5) PORTLAND TIMBERS (1-1-1)

LAST WEEK: BYE

THIS WEEK: at Orlando City on Sunday

OUTLOOK– The Timbers took advantage of RSL’s indiscipline to erase a two-goal deficit and earn a hard-fought point. Although the Timbers were far from superior, the play of Fanendo Adi proved a major positive as the Nigerian striker continued to impress with a two-goal outing. Questions remain in the absence of Liam Ridgewell, and the Timbers will need to step up the defense against Cyle Larin and Orlando City.

6. (6) REAL SALT LAKE (1-0-2)

LAST WEEK: BYE

THIS WEEK: at Sporting KC on Saturday

OUTLOOK– RSL remains unbeaten, but the team is beat up heading into a clash with Sporting KC. Playmaker Javier Morales is listed as doubtful while forwards Olmes Garcia and Juan Manuel ‘Burrito’ Martinez are also battling injuries. Add in the suspension of Kyle Beckerman, and RSL may have a fight on their hands to keep that zero in their loss column.

7. (7)  ORLANDO CITY (1-0-2)

LAST WEEK: BYE

THIS WEEK: vs. Portland Timbers on Sunday

OUTLOOK–  Even limited by illness, Cyle Larin continued to fire for his third goal in as many games. The goal may have been a bit on the accidental side, but the Canadian international has looked spectacular to start the season. A matchup with the Timbers looms, and Orlando City will have some momentum following a win over NYCFC last time out.

8. (8) PHILADELPHIA UNION (2-1-0)

LAST WEEK: BYE

THIS WEEK: at Chicago Fire on Saturday

OUTLOOK– Tranquillo Barnetta and Vincent Nogueira are set to return to the lineup ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Fire. That should boost a Union side that has looked very good in recent weeks due to the play of C.J. Sapong.

9. (9) SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES (2-1-0)

LAST WEEK: BYE

THIS WEEK: vs. D.C. United on Saturday

OUTLOOK– A Through three games, the Earthquakes still appear to be a team on the rise despite a loss last time out. A visit from D.C. United provides an ideal matchup for a team looking to bounce back from a Cali Clasico defeat.

10. (14) VANCOUVER WHITECAPS (2-2-0)

LAST WEEK: Defeated Houston Dynamo, 1-0, on Saturday

THIS WEEK: vs. LA Galaxy on Saturday

OUTLOOK–  After starting the season with two defeats, the Whitecaps have now won two straight to right the ship. With wins over the Sounders and Dynamo, the Whitecaps will be feeling fine with their positioning even after a rough start. Another tough task lies ahead, though, as the Caps host the Galaxy in a battle of Western Conference contenders.

11. (10) HOUSTON DYNAMO (1-2-1)

LAST WEEK: Lost, 1-0, to Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday

THIS WEEK: BYE

OUTLOOK– After squandering a late lead to the Red Bulls, the Dynamo were unable to muster much of an attack against the Whitecaps. Undone by a penalty kick, last week’s showing was far from the gunslinging Dynamo of recent weeks, as the club now has a week off to rediscover its attacking form.

12. (11) TORONTO FC (1-1-1)

LAST WEEK: BYE

THIS WEEK: At Colorado Rapids

OUTLOOK– TFC will feel hard done by their last loss to Sporting KC, but will have a chance to revitalize the team’s road trip in a match with the Colorado Rapids. Jozy Altidore looks ready to go for a team that will be glad to have their forward option back in good health.

13. (12) NEW YORK RED BULLS (1-2-0)

LAST WEEK: BYE

THIS WEEK: At New England Revolution on Friday

OUTLOOK–  After limping through the opening two weeks, the Red Bulls finally played their way into the win column. Midfielder Felipe was magnificent, providing a pair of late goals to equalize and then defeat the Dynamo. Overcoming deficits was far from unfamiliar to last year’s Red Bulls team, and victories like the Dynamo win are moments that help turn the corner from early season struggles.

14. (13) NEW YORK CITY FC (1-1-2)

LAST WEEK: Tied New England Revolution, 1-1, on Saturday

THIS WEEK: BYE

OUTLOOK–  Another home game produced even more squandered points. Facing the 10-man Revs, NYCFC failed to net the crucial go-ahead goal and settled for just one point. It’s a concerning trend, as through four winnable games, NYCFC has just five points. With a week off, Patrick Vieira’s side will need to work out the kinks as NYCFC looks to add to their win column for the first time since the opening week.

15. (16) NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION (0-1-3)

LAST WEEK: Tied New York City FC, 1-1, on Saturday

THIS WEEK: vs. New York Red Bulls on Friday

OUTLOOK– Another draw for the Revs, but this last one felt much better than those that preceded it. Down a man at Yankee Stadium, the Revs looked like the team more likely to emerge victorious. There were plenty of positives to take away from a mostly solid performance, even if the team will need to start turning this draws into wins as soon as possible.

16. (15) COLUMBUS CREW (0-2-1)

LAST WEEK: BYE

THIS WEEK: at FC Dallas on Saturday

OUTLOOK–  The Crew earned their first point of 2016, but it still came in less than ideal fashion in a scoreless draw. A matchup with FC Dallas looms, and a win over the Western Conference powerhouse could serve as a proper kickstart.

17. (17) SEATTLE SOUNDERS (0-3-0)

LAST WEEK: BYE

THIS WEEK: vs. Montreal Impact on Saturday

OUTLOOK– Through three games, the Sounders have yet to earn a point and are already digging themselves a major hole in what could prove to be a very competitive Western Conference. They have a chance to remedy that on Saturday in a clash with the Impact, but the Sounders will need to hope Clint Dempsey and Jordan Morris show no signs of fatigue following the international break.

18. (18) COLORADO RAPIDS (1-1-1)

LAST WEEK: BYE

THIS WEEK: vs. Toronto FC

OUTLOOK– Ironically, the day of Tim Howard’s signing was clouded a bit by a costly error by the Rapids’ current goalkeeper. Zac MacMath’s inability to clear a late-game cross served as an uncharacteristic mistake, dooming the Rapids to just one point. With Howard and Jermaine Jones waiting in the wings, the Rapids will have a lot of reshuffling to do going forward, but will need some early season points if they hope to have a chance to compete for a postseason spot as the season wears down.

19. (19) CHICAGO FIRE (0-1-2)

LAST WEEK: BYE

THIS WEEK: vs. Philadelphia Union

OUTLOOK– All things considered, the Fire should be more than happy with a point against the Crew. Yes, the Fire failed to score, and yes, they were the second best team on the field, but keeping a shutout against a team like the Crew is something to hang your hat on. Veljko Paunovic still needs to figure out his side’s ideal shape, but last week’s result could have been worse for a team still looking to rebuild.

20. (20) D.C. UNITED (0-2-2)

LAST WEEK: Lost, 3-0, to FC Dallas on Saturday

THIS WEEK: at San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday

OUTLOOK–  Facing a far-superior FC Dallas side, D.C. United offered little resistance against the opposing attack or defense. Through four weeks, D.C. United is a team that has offered few positives, as it appears that the recent playoff contender has truly sunk far below the list of contenders that currently make up the Eastern Conference.
